The yellow snow
“La neve gialla” (the Yellow Snow) is a homage to oblivion. The work is inspired by the impressions of that which took place in Elena’s birthplace, which remains unknown due to constant censure and distortion of facts. Siberia is a very isolated place and for this simple reason wars never happen on its territory, but their distant echo is perceptible, as an echo of change and revolutions. All the dramatic happenings are felt there even where not even electricity arrives to. All the earth is suspended and moved by waves of anguish. The color yellow has been chosen to transmit the idea more clearly, given that, just like in Dostoevskij, yellow is the color of madness. Yellow snow in Siberia is February with its dirty snow, the weariness but also the hope of a rapid rebirth of nature and life.
